Here are five valuable lessons we can learn from Tim on becoming a betterpresenter.

1) Create educational videos related to your topic

From The 4 Hour Body, Tim explains the Kettlebell Swing
Tim has created several videos following the principle that “marketing is education”.
In today’s day and age, this is extremely relevant presentation tip because people don’t want you to sell to them, they want to be taught.
The most important thing to remember here is that Tim puts himself in your shoes and tries to show you how to solve a practical problem in your every day life.

2) Professional with coolness

Yes Tim can also speak about dating :)
Tim talks about everything and anything – from how to tie your laces or what to eat – with the same ‘professional, but cool’ approach.
His tip is that you can even talk about potatoes and make them sound cool!
Tim’s presentation style is very cool as he is calm but still very active.
His posture proves that he’s done his homework and is confident about whatever he’s presenting about.

3) Step by step God

“How to Peel Hard-boiled Eggs without Peeling” from Tim Ferriss has more than 3MLN views…
You need to show the step by step of each thing that you explain.
Don’t give general, vague ideas – rather focus on practical implementations by giving your audience a step by step presentation on how to do something.
If you want to show an idea or project read also The Elevator Pitch Guide: 45presentation tips for startups.

4) Show by yourself!

Lot of good presentation skills in the above video: great use of videos, storytelling, physicality, educational, unconventional…simply an excellent speech.
Are you good at something?
Then prove it! Show it to your audience. Get your hands dirty and show them how to solve a problem or how to do something.
There’s no better way to prove that you know what you’re talking about then getting up on stage and showing them.

5) Be multidimensional

Tim Ferris - Why You Better Watch Tim Ferris Before Your Next Presentation
Tim’s power is in his ‘unvertical approach’.
He didn’t choose to learn everything about only one topic – he is actually good at many things and knows a lot of things about many topics.
He is proof that you don’t have to be super specialized to talk about something and your eclectic passion for many different topics can become one of your best strengths as a presenter.

6) Unpolished is good

Home made “Tim Ferriss – The 3-Minute “Slow-Carb” Breakfast” is raw but very effective.
Tim is not a classic presenter in the traditional sense, but this is great for his personal presentation style.
We love a presenter that is impossibly unconventional!
During keynotes – and during his videos – he can show his audience videos of his experiments and this increases his authority as he speaks from experience he already has.
Tim’s unconventional presentation style will keep you entertained throughout his presentations and will keep you glued to your seat with interest.
